At The Thief, we believe great wine is meant to be shared. We created our clubs as a way to share wines from both our native Washington as those from around the world with our customers. As a member in any of our clubs, your quarterly allocation will include four bottles of hand-selected wine. Our shipments generally contain both whites and reds, but we may also throw the occasional rosé and/or sparkling wine in there. We look forward to discovering this great big world of wine with you!
How are the wines selected for our clubs?
Our team at The Thief are constantly tasting and searching out wines of character and quality. We look for wines which offer value and are an excellent representation of their region and/or styles. We run focused tastings as a staff to narrow down the selections, with the goal of giving our club members delicious wines that over-deliver for the price.
Why should I join the Washington club?
Our Washington club features wines from wineries all around our state, not just Walla Walla. From the classics to the trailblazers, you can expect to experience the incredible depth and variety of Washington wine. Washington is unique in that we aren’t tied to a particular grape or style, offering wine drinkers an incredible diversity of wine. From Grüner Veltliner to Grenache to Cabernet Sauvignon, we do it all!
Why should I join the Artful Dodger club?
At The Thief, we are privileged to access wines from all over the world. Often, these wines are highly allocated, hard-to-find, or just plain under-the-radar. The Artful Dodger club is our way of bringing some of our favorites to you. You can expect a huge variety of grapes and styles from wine regions worldwide. If you appreciate adventure, novelty and quality, the Artful Dodger is the perfect club for you.
Why should I join the Grand Heist club?
Whether you are building a cellar to last a lifetime or looking for those wines that drink well now but will age beautifully for years to come, the Grand Heist club is the perfect allocation. You can expect wines from some of the most lauded and respected winemakers in the world, who craft wines of beauty and integrity.
Do I get to choose the kind of wines in my allocation? (What if I don’t like whites/reds/etc.)
Each allocation includes curated wines chosen from a given region or based on a particular theme or style. The types of wines offered each allocation will change depending on what we feel deserves to be highlighted or what is new and exciting. If you are looking to purchase specific wines, please visit our online shop at www.thiefshop.com for a wide array of bottles available a la carte. These can often be added to your allocation to save on shipping.
How often will I receive wine?
Each of our clubs is a quarterly subscription. You can expect to receive your 4-bottle allocation in the months of March, June, September and December. Our December shipment will take weather into consideration, likely shipping early in the month to avoid extreme temperatures.
What if there is a problem with one of the wines?
At The Thief, we are strongly committed to proper storage of our wines, both in the shop and during transit. We believe proper storage is crucial to maintain the quality of wine. If you have any questions about proper wine storage practices, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you feel there is an issue with the way your wine arrived, please email us at the same address and we’ll figure it out together.
Do you ship in the summer months or to warm areas?
We fully understand the concern of shipping wine in warm weather. We will take every precaution to ensure that your wine arrives to you quickly, safely, and in prime condition. If we feel the weather is too warm to ensure wine arrives to you in pristine condition, we will let you know beforehand of any shipping delays. We also understand that waiting for the warm weather to chill out is no fun. So, we ultimately will leave this choice up to you. If you would like, we are happy to hold your shipments for you. Simply email us at email@example.com to let us know that you’d like to put your shipments on a weather-hold, and we’ll hold them until cool weather returns.
What states do you ship to?
Due to laws restricting the shipments of alcohol, we currently cannot ship wine to Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Utah. We do not ship internationally at this time.
How do I pause/cancel my subscription?
Log into your account and click to manage your subscription from the accounts page. If you have any questions or concerns about paused or canceled orders, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What if I’m not home to accept the delivery?
A person of 21 years of age must be present to accept delivery.
What do I do if my club allocation arrives damaged?
We take great care to ensure that every box is packaged properly by our in-house team to ensure a safe and in-tact arrival. If your package arrives looking damaged or tampered with, simply decline the delivery (or, contact your parcel service to have a driver pick up the package) and notify us immediately after. If you are able to take at time-stamped photograph of the package, please attach the image to your message. A replacement package will be sent shortly after.
Can I ship to my work address?
Yes. In fact, we often recommend this option if you are typically away from home during normal postal delivery hours.
I just signed up for your club. When can I expect my first allocation?
Your first shipment will be billed upon release of the next quarterly allocation followed by a recurring payment one week in advance of each allocation’s ship date. You may skip, pause, or cancel your membership at any time. Please note, if we do not receive notification to skip, cancel or pause prior to the current billing and ship cycle, we may not be able to do so.
How do I change my credit card info?
You can change your credit card info in your account page by logging in to your club member account or calling our team at The Thief to update your payment information.
Terms of Agreement for Membership
To help you make the most of your membership please take a moment to familiarize yourself with all the policies regarding your membership.
There is no fee to join our club and you may sign up anytime online, via phone, or by visiting shop in Walla Walla. As a member, you agree to all terms and conditions of membership.
By becoming a member, you verify that you or the recipient of the club is at least 21 years of age. You authorize us to charge your credit card prior to shipment of each quarterly allocation.
You will receive an email two weeks prior to each club shipment noting important dates and details of your shipment. It is the member’s responsibility to notify us of any changes to credit card, billing/shipping address, or club tier. Unfortunately, we are unable to make any changes after billing.
The club releases will be charged to the credit card on file. It is your obligation to update your credit card information online or by phone prior to the billing date. We are not responsible for shipping charges incurred due to misdirected or returned shipments or changes made after the deadline. If a club shipment is returned for an incorrect address or three failed delivery attempts, then you will be responsible for the additional cost of reshipping.
Club purchases, tax, and shipping are non-refundable once they have been processed. Costs may change without notice.
A flat rate shipping charge of $30 for all club tiers are available for the contiguous United States. Due to federal law requiring all alcohol shipments to be signed for by a person at least 21 years of age, a daytime delivery address, preferably a business address, is requested. Shipments are handled by GLS or UPS and cannot be delivered to PO, FPO, APO, or IPO boxes. Returned or refused shipments may incur additional fees.
In-Person Pickup at the Shop
Club members are asked to pick up their club allocation within 60 days of billing. If a club release is not picked up within the 60-day period, and no prior arrangements have been made, the shipment will be carefully packed and shipped the following week to the billing address on file for an additional charge.
Holds and Cancellations
You may place your membership “on hold” with a written notice to email@example.com prior to a club month. Memberships can be canceled anytime, unless billing and processing has already taken place for the current cycle. In that case, membership will be canceled immediately following shipment or pickup of the current allocation.
Sharing Your Club Benefits
We only have one name on the membership. Benefits or discounts are not transferable to friends or family.
