Denis Bachelet's three parcels total 0.44ha and are situated next to Mazis-Chambertin with some influence from the cool breezes wafting down from the Combe de Lavaux. Mostly planted with vines planted in the 1920s this is one of the denser wines in the Bachelet portfolio located on clay soils. Bramble and black cherry fruit flavours are supported by some tannic grip and deftly handled 50% new oak. (Drink between 2023-2030)

The 2018 les Corbeaux is flat out great from Domaine Bachelet. The wine is properly structured out of the blocks and will want a good dozen years to properly blossom but once it reaches cruising altitude it is going to be brilliant. The bouquet offers up a superb blend of sappy black plums and sweet dark berries spit-roasted meats black minerality bitter chocolate smoky new oak and a nice touch of spice elements in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep full-bodied and very soil-driven in personality with a sappy core of black fruit fine-grained buried tannins and excellent length and grip on the very pure and very very promising finish.
