Pedro Parra Pencopolitano 2020
Pencopolitano comes from PENCO, an old Spanish enclave where the City of Concepción was established for more than 250 years. It was totally destroyed by the big Tsunami of 1758. Pencopolitano means citizen of Concepcion, the Capital of the Itata Valley and terroir for all their wines.
Blend: 50% Cinsault, 50% País
The 2020 Pencopolitano is a 50/50 blend of Cinsault and País from Guarilihue, Itata, aged in concrete and "foudres." Cherry red in hue. The nose begins with precise pomegranate, elderberry and sour cherry notes over a bed of earth. An easygoing wine with a delicate mouthfeel, well-judged freshness and a compact texture. The fruity flavors grow more expressive at the back of the throat, while the second glass pleasantly dries out the gums. - 91pts Vinous
